Let me start off by saying that I love Instagram's new update! I really enjoy change especially when it has a purpose and reflects the growth of a company or brand.

I think it's awesome that Instagram has even released a video to support the changes it made and how we, the users have influenced it. You rock for that Instagram!

I'll give you 2 min to watch the video before continuing so we can be on the same page, that's enough time for you to watch it twice, cause I know you will:

Awesome, right?

However, after opening the app, I was kinda of disappointed.

The inside of the app or the UI wasn't as updated and beautiful as the Icon of the app, it's just black and white. While I understand and appreciate the consideration of Instagram not wanting to take too much attention away from what's really important, which is YOUR pictures, I still wish they would have spiced it up and continued the design inside.

And that's when it hit me " The New Instagram Update is like Home Hunting in NYC" [Tweet This]

Now let me explain, because I know a lot of you are somewhat lost right now by that simile.

Have you been hunting for your new apartment, your broker or agent tells you how awesome a certain building is and all the great amenities you will have in the building and what truly makes it special? You meet your agent in front of the building and you're just taken back by the beautiful design and architectural structure of the building, while walking in you admire the art in the lobby and enjoy the smooth ride in the elevator to the floor of the apartment, your broker opens the door to the apartment, you walk in and boom, you're totally turned off?

Yea, that's what basically happened with me and Instagram this morning.

Now, trust me I truly believe this won't affect Instagram and you shouldn't disregard it's potential, the same way you shouldn't disregard an apartment that needs a little TLC in very well established neighborhood and building!

The same way you can upgrade the apartment to your standards and bring it up to date to reflect today's market and the outside of the beautiful building, Instagram will surely start tweaking and updating the inside of the app to make it just as beautiful as the icon on the outside.

Want to see how Instagram decided on the final design, take a look at this video:

What are your thougths on the update?
