Home Tech Tuesday - Lifx Color 1000 Smart Light Blubs

This week's Home Tech for the week is something very simple but yet changes the whole experience when you are at home and it's something everyone in the family can enjoy.

It's the Lifx Color 1000 Smart Bulbs.

Now, there are other smart color changing light bulbs on the market, however, the Lifx Bulbs are priced at a much more affordable price point and is rated by CNET as the top performing color changing light bulbs.

At $60 each bulb, which is a little expensive for light bulbs if you ask me, the Lifx can add a lot of style and convenience at the same time. Since it connects over Wifi, there isn't any additional hardware needed in order to make it work across the house, which means you can control all setting and functions on IOS or Android.

Now, why I nominated the Lifx Color Light Bulbs this week is because of the functions and compatibility with other home devices. Not only can you connect the light bulbs to Alexa and Amazon's echo for voice control and activation, but you could also connect to "IF This Then That" (IFTTT) which allows you to set a customized setting if you want when you get a Facebook message, Twitter mention or even when you receive a email.

In addition, there are other settings like a silent alarm setting that allows the light bulbs to change colors when motion is detected when connected to your security camera which you can connect through the bulb's app. The app also has other "Themes" which you could to set any mood, some options are Focusing, Tranquility, Cheerful and Exciting.

There are many other technologies to update your home, this is one of those small subtle changes that adds more dimension to your home and also a great function to turn on when having friends over.
