This Week's #HomeTechTuesday: The New Google Home Voice Activated Speaker

I am a super geek when it comes to new technology and how we are evolving in this new world of the internet. One thing I find extremely interesting is the evolution of the technology within our homes.

Now, I don't know about you but I thought by 2016 we would have flying cars, sky highways and have houses built like if they were out of "The Jetsons". We aren't there yet, but we are pushing towards it.

However, I do see a lot of advances coming along and with these small super packed devices, it will push us further into the "houses of the future". Last time I gave an overview about the Smart Bulbs.

This #HomeTechTuesday we are introducing you to the Google Home Voice Activated Speaker.

Available currently for pre-order on the Google Store site, The Google Home is super unique because of many different features. You can change the colors of the speaker itself so you can personalize it according to the room, if you do have multiple Google Home speakers you can connect them together in order to play music or your favorite podcast across rooms, In addition, because the Google Home speaker is connected and powered by the Google search engine there is no limit to the things you can ask your personal voice activated helper.

The Google Home was announced in May, however just recently was there a release party on Oct 4th. Google Home does have some competition on the market though which is the Amazon Echo which has been on the market since 2014.

How will it compare? Time will tell.

Both are voice activated and Amazon does release new, weekly features to make the device more compatible for everyday life. But there are a few features that will set the two apart:

1. Google Home is currently available for Pre-order now for $130, the Amazon Echo is currently available for $180. Keep in the mind Amazon has release different versions of the Voice Activated speaker like the Amazon Tap and Echo Dot.

2. Google Home allows for appearance customization and also allows you to demand it to stream media to your Chromecast, Echo allows you to order a Uber, pizza and has more compatibility with smart home devices like Nest, Belkin WeMo, Echobee. (For Now)

3. Google Home is able to connect seamlessly with other speakers allowing for multi room audible. Alexa has more personality and a huge head start in the voice activation world, in addition, just saying "Alexa" to start a conversation is more appealing than " Okay Google".

Now I don't know about you but I am in the market for a Voice Activated Speaker, I currently use the Siri in my iPhone like a lot! However, Siri lacks the answers that Alexa or Google Home can give, Siri is about to get replaced!

What are you thoughts on the Voice Activated Speaker devices? Do you use Siri on your iPhone?

Would love to hear your thoughts!
